Informal: How Do You [insert here]?

It’s been a little business-formal-stuffy over here for a few weeks, hasn’t it? Good old college writing courses get me sometimes.

Well, seeing as how my brain is still in vacation mode from my birthday last week (June 5th), let’s just wing it!

How do you all get your minds back into work mode after a break? The conventional advice has never worked for me. You know what I’m talking about. Get back on schedule/routine. Set calendar reminders. Stick to your bedtime. Get an accountabili-buddy. Minimize distractions. Blah, blah, blah.

Maybe you all have some better advice that actually works. Like, a hack or something. What does a neurodivergent brain do when the usual tools don’t work? AND when you can’t just ditch for the day or week to let your mind and motivation realign. Gotta say though, if you already are motivated and you don’t have to try and get some 1-day shipped to you from Amazon, I envy you. Please, share your secret.

I genuinely want to know, how do you all handle troughs like this? Should someone never take a break because it’s too hard to get back on track? What about burnout? Such are the surface, not-nuanced questions that currently occupy my very strained brain meat.

Maybe I could and should do some kind of work even if it’s a proper day off? I don’t mean just checking emails, that’s too easy. I mean brainstorming, more writing, planning, research, analyzing …stuff.

This isn’t much of a resource rich or insightful post. I’m just glad I remained consistent in posting.

Seriously, what do you all do when faced with a trough and/or very mushy brain?
