Design Musings

Have you ever been inspired to create something seasonal, but at the wrong time of year? Well, I don’t think it’s ever really a bad time to be inspired and create something. However, there are certainly inconvenient times. Did you know that I was working on Valentine’s Day listings back at the beginning of December? It’s so difficult to think 2-3 months ahead of the current season and get the creative juices flowing in that direction.

Well, that’s where I’m at today, folks. I’m trying to pull St. Patrick’s Day designs out of my head when I still want to make Valentine’s and Christmas listings. Does that mean I would be really late or super early with more Christmas options? Ha!

What sort of methods do you all use to herd the proverbial cats of your creative brains? Do you take the “write drunk edit sober” approach? Do you go about a short, menial preparatory task to get the flow started? Do you put it off and go bake sourdough bread instead?

Okay, that last one is probably just me. Sometimes the procrastination part of my brain does well with an unrelated task while quietly shifting gears in the background. And then, BOOM! Suddenly, I’m chomping at the bit to get going on the original goal.

Share your brain hacks and current design musings. I’d absolutely love to talk shop!
